Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi is one such festival, which is celebrated all along India. There is story behind this festival that reminds us the obedience of Ganesha to mother Gauri. The mother of Ganesha, Gauri was having bath, she didn’t wanted anyone to enter her room so she ordered Ganesha to guard the place. When lord Shiva, the husband of Gauri came to meet her he was interrupted by Ganesha. Ganesha insisted and that made Shiva angry, he chopped of Ganesha’s head in anger. Gauri realized the incident and asked Lord Shiva to turn her son alive. Lord Shiva brought the head of an elephant and placed it at Ganeshas’s body. He made Ganesha alive. Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated along the nation devoting to the dedication and obedience of Ganesha.
India festivals

Indian festivals are unique in many terms. India has a special sense of religious tolerance. India also provides equal status to all the religions. People from different sections of society and belonging to different religions flock together to celebrate the message of harmony and love depicted in the form of festivals. You will find every month as a celebration of some festivals and ceremonies in which we devote ourselves to God. We pray to make our lives bias-free, smooth and prosperous. It gives us strength to move ahead in our life and helps us to avoid doing sins. No surprise why India is known as the land of festivals.

Ganesha chaturthi - legends and prayers : Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesh on

the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada month of Hindu calendar. It is among the

most celebrated of the festivals in India, and perhaps the only one involving general public (others only

involve families and friends and are celebrated privately). It is interesting to note that the festival was not

celebrated until the times of Lokamanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who used it a great means to unite Hindus all

over India and educate them the evils of colonization.
